A couple of months ago I entered one of my novels in the Gold Coast Writers’ Association fiction competition. Unfortunately I was emailed yesterday and informed that I wasn’t a finalist. Bummer. (The three finalists have the opportunity to have their work judged by an editor at a major publishing house, so MAJOR bummer!)
But on the up side the feedback sheets from the three judges were very positive and encouraging, with some excellent advice on how I can improve my writing. So after I’d stopped sobbing and tearing up my letter of resignation for my day job (into teeny, tiny pieces), I realised that it was a very worthwhile exercise and it has only made me more determined to keep writing my stories and pursuing my dream.
And naturally I wish the finalists the very best of luck (I was robbed!). Just kidding. 😀
